Contacted support and I was told to remove and re-add the authentication to the account, but clearly this doesn't seem to be a 2FA issue since I was able to login to my account before and after re-adding the 2FA. If your game suddenly runs bad or crashes, first thing to do is update or disable addons and see if the problem persists. I don't have addons, but maybe uninstalling and downloading the client again is a thing to try. A video demo and hardware monitor & pc specs would help pin the issue.
Just wanted to note that this likely isn't an issue with Guild Wars 2 itself, but a service sitting in front of the game (and all ANet services). Which is also probably why you haven't seen any posts on the Forums, either since it uses the same login system. And it also affects account management and Guild Wars 1.
