I don't think there are any fuses or relays that control the charging circuit, but there is a battery saver relay that only kicks in when the battery is actually charging. My money's on the alternator.
Its an indication that the alternator may be the wrong size though. But don't panic. For the alternator to work it has to generate a magnetic field from its internal windings. This is created by the flow of electricity. The vehicle battery isn't always enough so additional current is required. Where do you get it? - From the alternator - Huh!!.
An Autoelectro spokesperson said: “In a non smart charge alternator, when the engine is running, the a constant voltage of between 13.8-14.4 volts is produced, depending on the battery charge level and engine speed. “The higher the output the greater the mechanical load upon the engine, causing the vehicle to consume more fuel.

Transit Mk 7s should have 5W-30 oil meeting Ford's specification and there have been reports of them being finicky if a lesser specification oil is used. However, if the correct oil and filter were used (I always demand that the garage that services my Transit-based Hobby fits Ford-branded filters) it's difficult to see how this would affect

It could be a bad battery, or more likely a bad
Yes the connection points behind the seat are fed by the front battery, and are live all the time, so bypass the battery save relay. If you can't get to them from behind the seat, although it can be done, you can remove the batteries, and remove the pre fuse box, connect the new cable, then reassemble, sounds a pain, but in reality will take

Re: alternator wiring! by Timbo » Tue Oct 26, 2010 11:45 am. Connect the thin blue wire to earth with the ignition switched on and check that the battery warning light on the dash comes on. This will check the wiring and bulb. If the light comes on then connect the wire to the middle terminal of the alternator.
