AlfaRomeo 147 1.9 JTD: other problems and faults. If the engine produces smoke or the vehicle suddenly loses power, the secondary butterflies of the swirl actuator valve may have seized due to a build-up of soot. To fix, the inlet manifold requires changing – this requires the fuel pump and cam belt to be removed.
Im thinking of buying an Alfa 147 first time ever and everyone says they're unreliable. I have heard the last few years reliability has improved greatly. But to summarise the most common issues (ie not really that common at all), consult the font of all Alfa knowledge: Alfa Romeo 147 Buyer's Guide. Save Share.
Generalinformation. Car: Alfa Romeo 159 2.2 JTS Distinctive. Milage: +- 230.000km. Year: 2007. Problem statement. Decreased fuel milage, I used to get over 850km of driving on a single (70L) tank. Latetely I am only getting around 650km at most, while I kept driving in the same way.
However I've kept the Alfa. I didn't want to sell it, and I certainly didn't want to scrap it. I would really like to get it up and running if at all possible. The trouble is, it's going to need: 1. Alternator 2. Cam belt 3. Full service 4. Piston rings? No idea what would be causing it to be burning oil
